Koru Mindfulness
The Koru Mindfulness curriculum was developed at Duke University over many years of trial and error, with close attention being paid to feedback from students. As a matter of fact, Koru was specifically designed to address the unique challenges that occur at the stage of a young adult transitioning to professional life.
It has been rigorously tested and shown to help with reducing stress and increasing self-compassion. It also helps individuals sleep better! We know people in the healthcare field are busy. This program is both useful and practical, while offering the "lowest effective dose" of mindfulness training. Students are asked to practice for 10 minutes each day.
As a certified Koru Mindfulness teacher, and Koru Mindfulness Teacher-Trainer, I have dedicated myself to optimally delivering the Koru curriculum, making sure your students get the full benefit of all Koru has to offer.

Koru supports
DEI initiatives
Many Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs recommend mindfulness practices.
Change comes from self-knowledge. In Koru, we learn and deepen practices that help students be more aware of their thoughts and emotions, and deepen self compassion and empathy.
“Meditation became a steadfast support for the everyday work of wading into the often murky and treacherous waters of having conversations about race with people I did not know well, and the sometimes murkier waters arising in such conversations with people I knew like family.” Rhonda Magee, The Inner Work of Racial Justice
Koru builds community
Woven into Koru mindfulness classes is intentional community building.
Mindfulness practice itself enhances community norms around self-care, self-compassion, and sitting in stillness, that serve to strengthen relationships. It is a powerful way to create cohesive community.
We support a social norm that says it is okay, in fact, helpful, to find stillness during stressful times.
Your community can cope better with ever-changing circumstances and show up grounded, connected, centered and present.
